i was told that AVG (for viruses) is not good to have.

I was told not to keep AVG (virus removal) because it was bad. is this true? I was told DELETE ALL OF AVG. I clicked AVGx2 on desktop and there is no option for uninstalling this. DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHAT TO DO?
