Hi all,
Hopefully this is the right place. I'm new here and dso not have a clue how
it works but i'm desperate for help. I am trying to back up my data in my
toshiba satellite M30-107 with Drang and Drop software. I try to put a blank
dvd to copy all the data just in case but it does not read the DVD-R. I have
DVD super multi drive, the notebook is 2 years old and i have never done this
before but the message " The request cannot be performed because of an I/O
device problem" keeps coming up. it does read other dvds with data from a
previous back up i had done by profesionals and other cds, etc... but not the
blank to do the back up. Can anybody help me with this please. I really
appreciate it.

If you are using Windows XP, you cannot just write to DVD by dragging and
dropping. You will need third party software like Nero to write to DVD.
If you are using Vista, you can write directly to DVD.

Thanks for your reply. I have also tried the software that came with the
toshiba satellite M30-107. It's called Drag and Drop but it does not
recognise the blank DVD. "The request cannot be performed because of an I/O
device error.
Still no solution.
I appreciate your time

May be worth downloading the trial version of Nero from
http://www.nero.com/nero7/eng/nero7-demo.php to see if that sorts out the
problem.

Steve

Thanks for your advice Steve, I will download the trial version of nero and
see it does solve the proble or else i will have to take it somewhere because
it is playing up. Now i also get a message at start up saying Application
launcher: Unable to load configuration. Also the printer software keeps
instaling on its own every now and then. Something is really messed up. Cheers
