What happens when you download and install the WinXP-specific audio
drivers, as provided by your sound card's or laptop's manufacturer?

You tried nothing else? Pressing the wrong buzzer on each reply isn't going
to get you the info you want.

Of course.
This is what i have tried out:
- performed a simple sound system test
- cheched volume and mute settings
- restoring the original audio driver
- install updated audio driver
- verified that the sound device is enabled
- disabled digital audio playback
- performed a Windows System Restore(couldn't find a date with changes)

so what more can i doo?

I don't think you're going to fix it. The last three identities you used
here all posted various sound problems, and nothing seems to work for any of
them Your "Posting Host" is 207.46.193.207, as "Willie" and "Seaclans", just
in the last few weeks. The sound problem seems to keep changing. You should
seek professional help.
