This Pet Peeve(tm) brought to you by Strunk and White.

Hm. Possible messages at this point.
[1] "LI-". Rerun /sbin/lilo -- if you can find a livedisc.
[2] "Missing operating system." Congratulations you've
blasted the boot block! Find a livedisc and rerun
/sbin/lilo (for LILO) or grub (for GRUB).
[3] "Cannot find <xyz>". If you're using GRUB,
find a livedisc and fix the name.
[4] Screen is blank and remains so. See if your cat
(or your shoe) has accidentally stepped on the power
rocker switch on your power/surge suppressor strip
on the floor somewhere near your feet.
[5] Something else. Something else.

OK, so boot to the old OS and fix /boot.

You're a marginal improvement over a troll. Of course, has it ever
occurred to you that the diagnostic information you've given us, plus
some ground coffee and hot water, might actually fill a cup?

Oh, of course. Windows Will Fix Everything(tm).

Probably, if Microsoft can in fact get *its* act together
and ensure that each and every desktop machine implement
Trusted Computing(tm), The Computing Solution That Will
Fix Everything(tm). With Trusted Computing you need never
administer your machine again it will be all done for you
by Microsoft, the INNOVA~1 company with the phunny ideas,
such as phishing, pharming, and phooling.
Microsoft. Where did you want it to go today?
