i was just wondering if any one could help me. i just finished installing my windows and i only have half of my HD storage space. i had the HD in another computer before this. i formatted the HD so i could upgrade my new system. the HD i have is a western DIgital 200G and when i load my Win XP Pro it says i only have 127G with only 124 free. before this it was fine. the computer part i have are:
MSI motherboard
1.5G ram Kingston
AMD Athlon 64 3000+
Wetsern digital 200G HD
Hewlett Packet 60G HD

What filesystem did you format the drive with? It sounds like you've hit a partition size ceiling, but I was pretty sure that both FAT32 and NTFS support those kinds of drive sizes. The other thing that might be causing it is if LBA mode is set improperly in the BIOS.

You need SP1 or SP2 to recognize the rest of the drive. XP without SP1 or 2 will not see all of a drive larger than 137Gigs.
