I have HP w/Windows XP- I keep getting Error 0x643 and unable to install:Microsoft .NET Framework 3.

Service Pack 1 and .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update for .NET versions 2.0 through 3.5 (KB951847) x86 It has failed NUMEROUS times since July 2012...I don't know if this is a necessary update. All of my other updates have been successful. Do you know
what the update's function is and why it continues to fail to install?
