I.E.7 Different for each user

I have XP Pro SP2 -
I.E. 7 -

all updated.

using my original user account all is well.
when I use any account that was created more recently I get the following
issues in I.E. 7.

firstly, IE wants to run msn.RunAtOnce but doesn't do anything - just sits
there with a blank page.
if I get past that then some webpages load okay but others stop or don't at
all and there is the "Errors on Page" meassage in the lower left corner.
example: I can load Yahoo home page but if I go to mail I get an error page.
sometimes I get a script error box mid screen which doesn't respond to
either a yes
or a cancel command.
for this second account I tried making it an admin or not - didn't make any
difference.
I tried creating a brand new user account - same iisues.
the original account works fine.
this is a "new" situation - it was not always like this.

reinstalled I.E. 7 - no change.

after more research - I tried a different browser - oh the horors! - (FF)
and all works fine and equal for all accounts.

so I'm about to give up on I.E.7 as much as I have wanted it to work - and
migate back to FF - which does seem better overall.

something weird about I.E.7 changing the reg on multiple accounts.
any ideas about this?

A1. A blank Web page is displayed when you start Internet Explorer 7:

A2. You may have several horked (dirty; bad; flawed) installs of IE7. I
suggest that you...

1. Uninstall IE7 (which automatically returns you to IE6) per
http://www.ie-vista.com/kbase2.html

2a. Uninstall all toolbars and third-party Windows Themes (including Window
Blinds).

2b. Disable all Norton Add-ons, if applicable.

3. Reinstall IE7 exactly per
http://www.ie-vista.com/known_issues.html#pre-install, and using
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/default.mspx as the installation
source, not Automatic/Windows Update.

4. IMMEDIATELY go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and install any
critical updates offered. If a "Root Certificates" update is listed in the
Optional category, you might install it, too, to take full advantage of
IE7's additional security.

it just seems like a lot of work and hassle. mebe i just go with the dowhill
flow to FF which doesn't have so many isues.

IE wouldn't have had issues if you had RTFM as/before
you installed it. It could be as simple as your AV
trashing it to something corrupted on your machine.
IMO it would be better to get IE working, because you
apparently have an issue somewhere on the machine;
better to know and fix now than get bit later.

My 2 ¢ anyway.

one thing to note is that these issues I'm having are "new" as in occuring
several months after the IE7 install / upgrade.

beyond that - why should IE7 be having any issues anyway? we all know that
if it was designed as well as FF then there wouldn't be any problems - so
what's up with MS's inability to "get it right" the first time?

it's hard to maintain the faith when you're trying to support products that
make you say things like, "what were they thinking?" or for Vista "this is
sort of cool but it's a hog and not exactly what you would call a mind
blowing experience".

What issues?

A1 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/945385) has nothing whatsoever to do
with IE7 itself but rather real-time protections of your security
applications blocking a proper install of a critical security update.

A2 may apply because /you/ were careless when you installed IE7 or a
critical security update.

don't take offense but your reply sounds like a typical MS response.

"careless" when installing I.E.7? there are not exactly lots of options when
you install I.E.7 - they have tried to make it as "auto" and as goof proof as
possible, and I applaud that.

this computer has never had any problems accepting and installing security
updates.

but thanks for your thoughts - I'm sure you mean well. maybe mentioning FF
is a sore spot here? but hey. it works flawlessly and doesn't have any
"issues" that I can find. but so far I can't find anyone yet who knows why
I.E.7 is behaving the way it is on my computer.
