del inspiron 2200 notebook. does not recognize http address. no problem with
https address. can anyone help?

What "http" address in particular? Typically a web browser problem.
 
The "file association" for http:// may have been corrupted.

type the command line commands

ASSOC http
ASSOC https
FTYPE http
FTYPE https

from the command line and post the results...
