When I have the subject printer power on and boot my PC it takes along
time to boot. If I have the power off on the printer the boot time is
normal.
Has anyone else had this problem with this printer? If yes what did you
do to correct it?

Thanks ,
Jim Brown

Personnally I dont turn on any peripherals untill I wish to use them, thus
no problem

Its probably not the printer, but HP's dreadful software. They make some
very good printers but don't seem to have the knack for writing
software. Most of the printer drivers in and of themselves aren't too
bad but all the other junk they install is just a resource hog,
especially their scanning & fax software, that junk is just drek. Make
sure that their scanning & fax software is *not* running on startup,
just enable it when you need it. It should be available in the start menu.

It might be that you have "Boot from USB" enabled somewhere in the machine's
BIOS, thus having it search all USB ports and equipment for bootable media.
As the C6280 has a multi-card reader, it will search there also..

I totally agree re HP software.
I bought an HP scanner and just wanted the drivers installed so that I could
scan into Paint Shop Pro but I had to install a whole load of s**t just to
get the drivers.
Thought I could download drivers only fron HP website and the only download
was a 300MB one!
