Anyone know what options are there and what's the best way to do this?

Will my computer act as a "Tivo"? Do I need anything extra?

Thanks.

I use the Pinnacle Pro USB stick that you can plug a cable into it to watch
cable TV or you can use the analog TV antenna that has cable too. The USB
stick uses a cable connection type plug.

The software for it works on Vista, and it has software it installs and
hooks into Windows Media Center so that the tuner works with its Pinnacle
Pro software or Windows Media Center. I use them both, switching between the
two. With Pinnacle, you can set recording times for unattended recording.
