How to stop 'windows live mail' ?

May not be quite the right place , but how can I stop windows live
mail , its linked to my hotmail email .... and i cannot see how to
revert to the original mail system ....

ive tried removing the email account, but it still opens .. with no
email account ....

any ideas ?

Start by uninstalling Windows Live Mail via Add/Remove Programs.

You'll find support for Windows Live Mail (WLM) in this public newsgroup:

microsoft.public.windows.live.mail.desktop

Via the web-interface:

Via your newsreader:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windows.live.mail.desktop

Ok , I had the idea it was part of win-xp ,
