How to make drive partition SMALLER or split it into two

I am looking for an easy way to change my primary partition (which uses the entire drive) to one that is half that size so that I can setup a dual-boot with both XP and Win7. Is there a way to make the partition SMALLER or cut it in half? I have plenty of space on it that will likely never get used.
Oh, of course I am looking for a way that does NOT involve reformatting the entire drive and/or losing my data.
