Windows NT How to limit drive allocation to Temporary Internet Files for all users

I just audited the profile directory sizes on my TS server and found that
many of the Temporary Internet Files directories exceeded 2GB in size each.
I am aware of the policy setting "Delete temporary folders on exit" and have
that set but it does not always do what its supposed to. For that reason I
wish centrally administer a specific allocation of say, 15MB, and then
disallow users to change it. I know I can turn off modification by using
"Disable changing Temporary Internet files settings" but there doesn't seem
to be a way to globally set the allocation limit.

have you tried to track down the registry location? once you have that
and it's compatible with GPO, you can create your own adm to set this.

If your terminal server runs 2003 R2 then you can use FSRM (File
Server Resource Manager) to set a hard quota on the "Documents and
Settings" directory. Windows versions prior to 2003 R2 only offer
volume-wide quota. You would have to move the profiles folder to a
dedicated volume (partition) and set a quota there.

Alternatively you can use a third-party quota software to restrict the
maximum amount of disk space taken up by the profiles.

All these possible solution have one downside: you would not restrict
the space in the Temporary Internet Settings but the whole user
profile which can be problematic - many applications require temporary
space to work correctly.

I am sure there is a method to set the size of the IE cache centrally,
probably using a managed or unmanaged policy setting. I recommend you
try to find out more about that.
