I'm trying to install XP Home edition on my Acer 2301 XC Travelmate via Oracle VirtualBox, i.e. as a virtual machine under Linux Mint 13. My goal is to install a couple of Windows XP programs on the Acer that won't install with Linux's "Wine" emulator, e.g. Adobe Creative Suite 5.

However, I think that the original XP discs that came with the Acer aren't really bootable - they're more for recovery. There were two disks that came with the Acer (see photo). Is there a way to extract a bootable ISO image from disc #1? Or would I have to download a proper file?
