How to I transfer backup files on my Seagate backup drive from a windows Vista OS to new laptop run

I recently bought a new HP Pavilion g6 with Windows 8. I am trying to download my files from m Seagate backup FreeAgent from my previous laptop that ran Windows Vista OS.

Can anyone tell me how to do this?
