If iOS 7's naked button look hasn't been to your liking, if it's made navigation harder to see and tap targets harder to hit, if you longed for the affordances of iOS 6-style outlines, then you'll be happy to know iOS 7.1 lets you get them at least part of the way back. That's right, hidden away under Accessibility Settings is a new option for... button shapes!
How to turn on button shapes in iOS 7.1 accessibility settings
- Launch the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap on General.
- On the next screen select Accessibility.
- Scroll down and now turn On the option for Button Shapes.
You should immediately see a gray outline on the General button in the menu bar, and all other menu bars. While it isn't a huge change, it does make finding and using buttons a little easier.
The button option also underlines anything that results in an action when tapped too. It's a great option for those that may be new to iOS and need some help learning the navigation.
Have you enabled button shapes on your iPhone or iPad or do you know someone that would benefit from the extra visual cues they offer? Let me know in the comments!
