Vesper is thoughtfully designed note-taking app for iPhone (also coming soon to the Mac). It lets you quickly create, tag, and organize any snippets of text, links, or images you want to keep handy. One of its most important attributes, however, is restraint. Features have to earn their place in Vesper. One of the features yet to earn a place is "favoriting". The idea is that you could quickly heart or star a note that's very important to you and have it show up in a special favorites folder in the list. Luckily, with a little creativity, you can essentially get favoriting right now and simply by using the existing tag feature.

How to heart or star tag notes in Vesper

  1. Find a note you want to "favorite".
  2. Tap the new tag icon.
  3. Switch to the Emoji keyboard.
  4. Tap the Star or Heart emoji (or any other emoji that you fancy).
  5. Repeat with any other note you want to fav.

Once you're done, swipe or tap to open the side bar and you'll see your "favorite" list staring back at you in all it's unmissable emoji glory.

I picked this up from Dave Wiskus, my podcast co-host and Vesper's designer, and I've been using it every since. I use very, very few tags in Vesper but this is now one of them. If you try it out, let me know how it works for you, and if you have any other cool Vesper ideas, let me know those too!
