How do you put an item back in tray?

I noticed that it seems some applications are getting
more intrusive in their installation routines. It seems one
application
has recently deleted an item in my tray, althrough it may
have been a coincidence in timing. I'm not able to drag
an item there from desktop. How do I put an item in the
tray on the right side?

Which item in particular do you wish to place there?

You can only drag items to the area next to the Start button, not to the
System Tray (in the bottom right-hand corner).

I have a SoundBlaster Audigy card which has a special mixer.
The selection of Control Panel for Sounds has a
"put volume control on the taskbar" which puts the old
small speaker icon, which isn't the special icon for the more
advanced mixer.

I was able to put it over on the left side, thanks. It was
on the right side before, not sure how to get it over there now,
but it doesn't matter what side it's own.

Thanks for the tip in getting it on the left side.

Msconfig shows that the Audigy software starts with these parameters on
my system. You might try the same command with yours:

C:\Program Files\Creative\SBAudigy\Surround Mixer\CTSysVol.exe /r

and

CTxfiReg.exe

Though both are registry Run entries, you could add them to the Startup
folder and it might end up in the Notification (tray) area. Simplt
reinstalling the drivers might add the entries too.
