How do you delete items from 'Open with' list?

When you right click on an application you often have the 'Open With'
options to either use or add to the list. How do I delete the programs
from this list that no longer apply?

Why do you need to? They may apply again at some future time. What you
contemplating seems a complete waste of time and effort.

Hope this helps.

It's not a waste of time if some were entered incorrectly to start with
or if you no longer have that program on your machine.

See if any of this helps:

Registering a program with the "Open With" dialog:

Working with Context Menus, Open-with and Send To menu
