I am temporarily residing in a hotel suite fully equipped with high speed
access thru the use of my ethernet adapter. My operating system is WinXP.
Unfortunately when trying to connect Internet Explorer, there is a DNS ERROR
message and something to the effect that a connection could not be found.
I am an intermediate computer novice and have done everthing possible to
correct the problem. I even contacted the hotel service agent but they seem
to believe the problem is caused by my AOL. They checked the cables,
outlets, plugins, etc...and simply said.....get rid of the AOL software.
Well....I completely deleted the program but stil faced with connection
problems. I even ran the fix it wizard but it can't seem to reset my IP
Address. On another note, I find it confusing that I was able to utilize my
AOL at another hotel suite without any problems at all. I have never had any
issues with my AOL, so I am still not certain if AOL was the problem or not.
Looking in the connection properties window, it appears that my computer is
sending out a signal but nothing is being received in return and the count is
a big fat ZERO, however the two tiny computers in my task bar are clearly
showing a solid connection.
I've tried just about everything even disconnecting and reconnecting the
ethernet cable and so forth, however the problem is still ongoing and when I
tried to do the "repair" there was an error message popping up that reads,
"Windows could not finish repairing the problem because renewing the IP
Address cannot be completed."
I am almost about to give up on this one because it's so frustrating. I
never had this problem before. My computer is sending out a good signal BUT
it isn't receiving ANY signal at all......please help if you can....(thanks
