Hello there!
I've been having a bit of an issue for a while now, and am now trying to seek out answers, if anyone can help at all.
The 'malware' that seems to be on my laptop's only 'sign' or evidence that it is there at all, is that the moment you connect to the internet it starts using up a massive amount of bytes or downloads. Since we don't have unlimited internet, I've always been quite overcautious of how much I use, which on an average day doesn't usually meet 1 Megabyte, but now it'll use over 100 megabytes with ease, which has now costed money from over-charges on the internet bill..but that doesn't matter too much.
It only seems to have happened on my own laptop after a windows update (I am operating on Windows 7), and I've been unable to remove anything at all from using anti-malware/virus scans (I used Microsoft Security Essentials), and when I tried software recovery, nothing good happened either. (In fact, the windows help and support centre seems to be disabled upon start-up in safe mode...guess I'm not any good at this stuff.)
Now what makes it more troubling is that other (windows 7) laptops, two that I'm aware of, seem to do the same thing. So I'm not sure if the windows update was strictly coincidental and someone else in the house got a virus that can travel via the wireless internet, or if we all happened to get it from the windows update within the same amount of days.
I'm not sure if it'll help at all, but my own laptop is an Acer Aspire, and is nearly 3 years old. The models of the other two are Toshiba Satellite, and Dell Inspiron15. I'm not sure when they were bought, for they're not my own..
Any help or advice would be great!
