Hidden Files after Microsoft Security Essentials Scan and Fix

Hi All,

First time question.

I ran Microsoft Security essentials on my Windows 7 Pro Dell laptop to clean an infected USB drive.

It scanned the drive and removed the virus (3 worms)

Then I couldn't see any of the files or folders.

I checked properties and the data space was there as used but everything was hidden.

I tried to change the properties and the HIDDEN check box was greyed out so I couldn't change them.

I had to Alter the settings to SHOW HIDDEN AND SYSTEM FILES and the files showed up greyed.

I then googled for a solution and had to use the system prompt and the ATTRIB command to change the file attributes.


Why is that? Surely this is not what Microsoft want?
