hello everyone, there is not much advice i can give at this time, but i was hoping to get some help at getting my printer installed without having to use the win98disk which i've lost. :)

The manufacturer of your printer may have drivers available on their web site. You should be able to either run an installer included with the driver download, or use the 'have disk' option in the Add Hardware wizard to point windows towards the files you download from the manufacturer (unzipped, of course).

GavinO, I think your forgetting, when WIN98 installs a printer, alot of times it asks for the WIN98 CD to complete the install because it draws some files out of a couple CABS also.

Well anyways. This being the case, while the printer is installing take notes as to which files it is trying to find (or says it can't find) and I can either direct you to where you can download them, or I can send them to you. Please specify WHICH version of windows 98 it is.

While I WILL NOT send you an entire CAB or a windows 98 CD image, I see no harm in giving out JUST the files you need.

If you absolutely need to get files from the Win98 CD, I've found that oftentimes the files are located somewhere in the Windows directory or its subdirectories. The default directories Windows tries for installation resources are almost always wrong the first time around (can't believe it took me to this past december to upgrade to 2K!)
