My old laptop usually displays one of the following error messages on blue
screen:
.....Try changing the video adaptor... (most often)
or IRQ_not_less_or_equal_...
......
There are times I can have it work for more than 6 hours long without any
problem at all, other times it just shuts down with error messages and I have
to wait a few hours before can get it started normally and it can just shuts
down unexpectedly anytime. I don't think heat is the problem since fan is
still working properly and it can even happens when the laptop is still cool.
Would somebody please guide me to sort it out what may cause all of these?

That error message means either bad drivers and/or bad hardware. Since
you have random errors, it is most probably failing hardware. Since you
get a video error, the failing hardware is on the motherboard and you
cannot fix this yourself. What you decide to do depends on how old this
"old laptop" is. If the laptop is out of warranty and more than 2-3
years old, it will not be worth replacing the motherboard and you should
just replace the laptop itself. If the laptop isn't that old, contact
the laptop mftr.'s tech support for repair/replacement of the components.
