Try doing a system restore back to a point before you "did something you
shouldn't have".

I tried to do a system restore and it will not let me do it. It only goes
back to the time I messed it up. any more ideas would be greatly appreciated

Try this.
Log on as Admin.
Go to START - RUN
Then type in:
control userpasswords2
press enter. (note the space between "control" and "userpasswords2"
There you should see your user name as well as the Administrator
Change the box that requires users to log on so that you do not have to log in.
Then click OK and in the next window, change the ADMINISTRATOR to your user name.
fill in your password and OK the boxes out.
On reboot is should go directly to your desktop.
Now if you want users to sign in, you can repeat the steps, but change the ck box to require login.
