Uncle Vinnie

I have looked with no success.. which would be the best group to post a
question at regarding DVD players.

There is a move I am interested in getting... I was advise by the
distributor in Sweden, they carry it in Region 2, PAL.

Since it's in English, I can understand it - but have to get it to play on
my PC, here in the US.

Which is what I would like to find out..

I do have XP Home, Media edition- with an old COMPAQ 115 DVD as well as a
TSST..

thank you for your help...

Change the region code on your DVD player. Course you can usually only do
that 5 times. Or convert the DVD to NTSC. Most DVD burning software will do
that but only the movie. I haven't seen any that will convert a complete
DVD.
If you have a DVD player hooked to your TV, you might be able to google up a
code that will convert it to all regions. There is also software that will
play all regions on your computer. Used to be some free ones around but they
haven't been updated for years. Anydvd is good if you're willing to spend
the money on it. That's at,

BTW, thank you!

Movie just came in, I re-read your advice -and googled a bit.. I wound up
backing it up using DVD shrink (which I already had, never knew it adjusted
regions as well) , it plays fine, region free!

Thank you again!

Great, glad you got it working. DVD shrink is good but it hasn't been
updated for quite a while. It might not work on some new DVD's with
protection schemes that came out since shrink last had an update.

Re: help needed, DVD - ping Claggy

Thanks again.. I've had good success w/CloneCD in the past as well.. but
that was while Elby had it.. Slysoft seems good as well.. I rarely run into
this, but when I do, it's nice to have a utility handy...

I do want to get in and flash my DVD drive as well, there is a mod to set
regions to 0... this region thing is a shackle, especially when a dvd isn't
even released in your own country - it's not as if one distributor is
stepping on another's toes.. I can certainly understand that..

Oh well, Happy Holidays!
