Hello,

I copied the entire c:\users to d:\users. Then I deleted the c:\users
and created a symbolic link to d:\users but obviously to acl is
completely crippled. I already restored the setting of the user and
users\[username] folder(s) but I noticed that the \users\default and
user\public have a rather complicated acl

I forgot to do a acl dump (icacls c:\users\* /save acl-backup.txt /t)
or something like that.

Is there a way to restore it or can someone create a dump for me ?

Regards

I think perhaps the utility 'Robocopy' is what you want.

Robocopy:

Re: help me to restore the securitysetting of c:\users\public anddefault

As far as I know is robocopy a tool to bulkcopy things where there is
a source and a target... my source is euh... gone (at least the acl
settings)

What happens if you do a System Restore?
Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore
Disabale Anti-virus before using it.

Re: help me to restore the securitysetting of c:\users\public and

Thats the problem, I never created a backup..
Seems that the ProfileService has some major problems creating new
profiles so I'm trying an upgrade now.. Not very friendly not to put a
wizard of some sort to vista to move the entire c:\users somewhere
else..

Can it be done during a normal installation btw ?
