I have a Dell 4550 computer and I need to reformat(wipe) the hard drive. Normally, I would put in the Windows XP CD and start the process.
I hit F12 and choose boot to CD
It completely bypasses the CD and boots to Windows XP. I thought it was an issue with the CD not reading so I got an External CD and hooked it up by USB and it doesn't even recognize it is there.
How can I wipe the drive clean so that I can donate the computer? Any suggestions would be appreciated
I'm trying to do formatting by my own and I'm on this place with message _ ALL OPENED HANDLES TO THIS VOLUME WOULD THEN BE INVALID . I click Yes to force a dismount on this volume and next message is-- Cannot lock the drive. The volume is still in use.
What should I put any new comments to go to the next step.
Thanks
