I've heard people say ATI video card performance is superior to nVidia,
though nVidia cards own the market because they have better support and
compatibility, so only "hardcore gamers" who want to deal with the driver
problems bother to use ATI.
The games I run must not be intense enough, since they always say these
monster video cards are for "hardcore gamers" and the video support on the
motherboard is sufficient for all my games.
If your PC needs a special tweak where the normal fix for a problem is not a
viable solution, you might want to take some notes when tech support tells
you how to fix it. Always expect to have to reinstall everything, plan for
a full format sooner or later. If you're lucky and take good care of your
system there's a good chance you'll never need it, but if you're smart you
hope for the best and plan for the worst.
