On my Windows 2000 Server for some reason I have to log off twice. the first
attemtp to log off, shut down or restart does not do anything! This issue
does not seem to generate any errors or cause any other problems but it is
very annoying...

Anyone, any ideas on what is causing it and how it can be fixed?

Thanks,

Try a diagnostic startup (msconfig) with no non-microsoft services and
applications. There is some app that hangs at logoff.

Copy msconfig from Windows XP/2003 to the "windows" directory or AutoRuns
for Windows from Windows Sysinternals
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/SystemInformation/Autoruns.mspx
