Hard Drive Crash, Restoring to Original Registered User

My hard drive crashed and the repair people were able to save my data and
programs. They reinstalled Windows XP using their own disc and registered
to: is now User where before it was registered to me ie. Sally Jo. All
programs work except a database I use which is locked, I think because the
computor does not recognize User as having authorization to access the data
base.

Is there a way I can restore the original Registered to or a way I can open
my data base?

Probably doesn't matter what name is used for your Windows account.
Everytime a new user account is created, and new SID (security
identifier) is assigned to it. So even if you were to rename your
Windows account the SID would still be different for the new account
with the old name. The "registered to" isn't used by your database.

The "Administrator" account under all NT-based versions of Windows
always has the same SID. This allows hard drives to be read under
different instances of Windows for file recovery or changing
permissions. So login under the Administrator account and see if you
can get into your database to change the user setup. Don't know what
database you use since you didn't mention it (but then this isn't the
newsgroup for database configuration questions).
