Hey there. I have Windows XP Home and installed a seagate ST320430A 20GB Hard drive that has some files I need on it. Its from an older computer that I had. The bios sees the hard drive, however it is giving the drive the wrong model number. but it shows that it is there. then I get into windows and it is in the device manager but not in my computer. so i go to disk manager and it does not show up in there. I have searched the seagate site for windows drivers. all i can find is this disc wizard program. so i downloaded it and installed. when i run it it searches my drives (i think that it is looking at the ones in my computer, cause it shows the drive letters as its scanning.) and then i get a message saying that it needs to have a seagate or maxtor device installed on my system. well i am so lost and not to happy about the seagate product. but if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanx

If the BIOS is incorrectly displaying the model, then in most cases Windows will not be able to use
the drive correctly.Seagate should have some utilities that go on a bootbale floppy so you can check
the drive ou.

Also, did you set the jumpers correctly as slave, or cable
select if that is how the other drives are set.
