We need to buy a graphics card with dual monitor output, ideally 2 VGA
outputs but 1 VGA+1 DVI will suffice. The card needs to output 1440 x
900 PER MONITOR with 16-bit colour.

We DO NOT need to watch DVD's or play computer games or need fast
refresh rate, these cards will be used in computers for our accounts
staff so they can see 2 Excel spreadsheets side by side.

Ideally the cards should fit into PCI slot and not require AGP slot.

We would like to buy from a vendor where drivers for Win XP
Professional are available.

With thanks

Newegg has about 42 entries for PCI cards. PCI limits the bandwidth,
to just 133MB/sec, which is less than the bandwidth of 2100MB/sec of
AGP8X or the 4000MB/sec of PCI Express x16. As long as the two
1400x900 displays are not changing rapidly, the bus bandwidth is
not an issue. The more dynamic the display (including game play
as dynamic), the more info that needs to be pushed through the
bus interface.

The specs have the odd typo ("PCI 8x" ?)

Quadro cards are dual head and designed to what you want. still made and 8X
AGP should allow DVD playback at lunch but wont play new games. if you
check e-bay you could get them for around $10 each.
