Hi! I got to get some activity going on the forum to keep members and guest interested and wanting to join our forum!
Has anyone heard of GRC?? Have you used the free software to test your security??
I have and here are some of my results! How does your security test?? Steve Gibson has been around for ever and is trusted and respected in the computer world. Click on the drop down freeware at the top to test your security software.;) I'm only recommending the free security tests.

I use the cheap stuff. I have a Motorola wireless router. MSE Anti-Virus and a life time MBAM Premium license. I use WOT and the free MBAM Anti-Exploit.
That's it!!:omg:

I used to use GRC a lot. I haven't visited there is a few years.
There's a lot of stuff going on at GRC. If I worked on computers for a living, I would invest in SpinRite to recover data from fired HD's.
The price seems right to me??;)
Thanks for your reply!!
PS Looks like I have been a active member on Free PC Help Forum for 12 days now. How could anyone cause so much trouble in just 12 days?? I spend why to much time surfing the internet!! What else can you do at my age??
Where's @allheart55 (Cindy E) hiding??
:big_ha:

While I don't use SpinRite I do use hard Drive Regenerator and have saved info from a lot of bad hard drives with it so I am a believer.
I also have not been to Gibson's site for a while, but I used to be a regular. I think I'll run Shields Up again for "S_its and Giggles".

I have only ever run GRC leaktest and have no use for anything else.
The bottom line @DSTMis below, but it's fun to get passed on some of the other tests also. Truly I failed the leak test from Gibson, but passed the others.
How safe do you need to be? What do you do on line which puts you at greater risk? Can you control or reduce these risks? Are you a careful web surfer, or do you click on anything which flashes at you? If a security alert pops up, do you always click "allow"? And isn't that the same as if the alert never came up, and the security program did nothing to protect you? Ninety-nine plus percent of the time, the problem with on line safety lies between the keyboard and the chair -- i.e., the End User.;);)

The reason is that MSE seems to have a week firewall. I have had 3rd party firewalls in the past, but I have never seen a reason to add one to W7, as I have never had a infection. I always have back up images if I ever get so badly infected that I can't clean up my OS. I knew you were going to bring up the leak test @DSTM because you just don't miss any thing, and you were well aware that MSE fails Gibson's leak test. You were waiting to nail me if I tried to tell you MSE passed the leak test. No, Dougie MSE fails the leak test, but it passes the other tests. I might think about adding a 3rd party firewall if I ever see a problem. Just because some thing gets in doesn't mean it can get out.;);). My MBAM premium has blocked malicious malware both incoming and out going. With my wireless router and my other layers of security, I'm not to worried at this time!
Thanks for your reply my friend!!

I wasn't waiting to nail you, my friend. I have better security than MSE.
I have the Windows 7 firewall and it holds me in good stead.
Third Party firewalls I have found to be a PITB.:)
Use whatever rocks your boat.

I know you weren't waiting to nail me my friend; but you were well aware that Windows firewall fails the leak test. I was just pulling your chain a little tonight. The forum does get a little boring at times and I'm probably trying to hard to make it interesting to our members and guest. I agree 100% that 3rd party firewalls can be a pain in the butt! Its 12:01 in Okie land and 5;02 PM in Aussie land. We seem to be the only members interested in Free PC Help Forum.
I have really fell for this forum and the staff and I plan to stay here as long as I'm welcome. It will just take time for the word to get get out and then our forum will grow into number one help forum. I can feel this in my bones. See you mate.
Thanks for your reply on my thread Mate!

Geez guys....I guess that was friendly enough!
I am with the Windows 7 and 8 firewalls. Third party firewalls to me are a complete pia.
I loved Sygate because it was easy to work with and didn't nag me all the time then Symantec bought it and killed it and I tried every other one and there were just too many issues, though admittedly that was many years ago.
I just tried the leak test and failed also. But nothing wold make me go back to all the networking issues and nag messages I had in the past. I am going to put MBam back and see if that warns of that.

Capture48.JPG Capture49.JPG Hi Gugs some times WOT warns me. Some times MBAM blocks as a malicious site??
I don't have a clue why this happens!! The one in screen shot MBAM flaged as malicious IP 66.77.96.140
PS That's why I love my MBAM!
