I have an ATI HD3870 video card in an XP SP2 system and sometimes use the
extended desktop. When I launch games, they always appear on the primary
monitor. Is there a way to make them appear on the secondary monitor?

Depends; If you are using an ATI or Nvidea dual monitor eg, to impliment
extended desktop its an option within their driver utility

If you can reduce the game to a window, drag the window to the secondary
monitor then maximise it again. Some programs will remember the last screen
location where you used them, others will not. If you are in the habit of
disabling the extended desktop in display properties when not using it the
settings related to the secondary display may disappear as well. Some apps
will unfortunately only open on the primary display.
