Freezes during configuration of updates. My question is do I really need these updates? They are pro

However, my pc will now only operate insafe mode, which prevents me from uninstalling or installing updates. Can't even veiw update history! Coupled with the fact a lot of files I can't access because windows installer is not on or cannot be found! My
Norton program runs and error message comes on. Do I have a virus or what is happening? HELP.
