If you have an old image that is in need of restoration or repair then please take advantage of our new image editing service right here in this thread. The little man you see above is the son of a dear friend of mine. Sam’s now 31 years old. His mother found this old photo in a box in the loft. She’s now put him in a nice frame in her home. Memories are so precious, and she’s one happy lady. We can also make you a new avatar, or maybe an animated Gif, which could be an avatar or something for your forum signature.
We do have some rules. Please click here to read them.
If you have any damaged photos, be they old or new please post them here and one of the team will repair the damage and then upload the restored image back into your original post for you to download it and do with it what you will.
How it works and what you should do:
1. Post your damaged photo into the reply box below. It needs to obviously be in digital form. If you don’t have the image already on your HDD then scan your damaged image, or have it scanned at a high resolution.
Tip: Some home scanners are of low quality. If you have any doubts about your own then go along to somewhere like Staples and have them scan your image for you. If you take a Thumb drive/Flash stick with you, they’ll pop the scanned image onto that for you. It’s normally very cheap to have this done.
2. When posting your image be sure to include the following information.
a) What you want done to the image. For example, do you want the man wearing the cap in the background removed from the image. Or maybe the sky brightened up a little. Or both?
There is not much that cannot be done to an image!
b) Please state what size you want the finished image to be. However, don’t expect to be able to turn a very small image into poster size, without losing image quality.
c) Are you going to print your image? If you are, then please give us the photo frame size.
Bear in mind that a printed image looks better when slightly over sharpened. And as such it will look too sharp when viewed on a computer screen. If you wish, you can have two images. One for printing, and one for viewing on screen.
3. After your image has been edited, we will post it back into the same forum post as the damaged image was originally posted. This way the forum members will be able to view a before and after of the image. A Personal Message will be sent to inform the poster that their photo/image is ready for collection.
4. At that point you will be able to right click on the image and save it to your own computer.
Members can post as many images as they wish for repair or restoration. However, do please bear in mind that the PCHF staff are carrying out the editing work in their spare time. Some restoration work may take a few days to complete. We thank you for your patience.
