Found New Hardware Wizard

Hi there, can someone help me?.... i tried using an infrared USB device but unfortunately i didnt notice that it's incompatible with windows xp. At first, I could still see or the "found new hardware" icon still pops but after several attempts that icon didn't show up anymore. I'm wondering if i damaged my syste,? but i tried using a flsh drive, still, the icon"found new hardware" didn't pop but when i checked the icon my computer it showed there the icon for the flash drive. what do you think guys happened? is it possible for me to bring back that "found new ahrdware wizard"?... i hope to hear back from you soon!!!

You, or someone else probably checked the "DO NOT SHOW THE WIZARD FOR THIS HARDWARE" box that pops up when you boot your PC.

If you check the control panel device manager, the hardware should probably still be listed as UNKNOWN with a yellow exclamation in it.

However... sometimes windows will search the internet itself, and if you are lucky, will find the correct drivers for the device... but don't count on it.

Perhaps if you told us the model # of the device we might be able to find some drivers for you that ARE XP compatible...

Alot of times, Windows 2000 drivers will work in place of XP drivers, it just depends.
