So,
I am setting up a backup system on an XP machine, and we have decided to move away from the more twitchy DAT drives to external hard drives. These are USB drives (and eventually we may install an eSATA port as both drives support eSATA) but for now we use USB.
I have the Volume Label and Volumn Serial Number for the Drives. The Label's are the same both are labeled "Backup".
I Want both drives to always take the SAME letter. Doesn't matter what letter in my mind, just that when I plug in Drive 1, it gets assigned G:. I Unplug it and plug in Drive 2, it should be assigned G: as well.
I have tried doing the "NoDrives" registry value to attempt to limit this, but perhaps it would be a matter of turning off "Drive Memory" so they alway take the first available drive letter and have windows never remember the "last letter assigned" to a particular USB drive.
Personally, I don't care how, but I simply want to say: Drive "Backup 1" and Drive "Backup 2" are always both assigned the same letter. Is this possible?
(We are dealing with clerks here so I am not going to teach them how to reassign drive letters. Changing out USB drives is complicated enough for them.)

PS - Don't mark answers on other people's questions. There are such things as Vacations and Holidays which may reduce timely activity, and until the person asking the question can test your answer, it is not correct just because you think it is. Marking it correct for them often stops other people from even reading the question and possibly providing the real "correct" answer.
