Folders keep changing to show as ICONS, not DETAILS

Using XP home, sp2, auto update. Classic View.

The first year or so after I installed XP home I had all files to show
DETAILS.

A while back, XP started showing files as ICONS after rebooting my
computer.

I would change back to DETAILS and go to TOOLS and have it APPLY TO ALL
FOLDERS.

Then when I shut down and later reboot, folders come back as ICONS.

I wonder why this happened and WHAT can I do to keep all folders shown
as DETAILS unless I change it myself.

Thanks

Thanks for the replies Elma and Devil_Himself.

Not sure from Kelleys Korner where to edit the following.

This is what is at Kelleys Korner, LINE 2...

WHAT do I do with these 2, in RegEdit?

> 2.
> [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell]
> "BagMRU Size"=dword:00001f40

In RegEdit, when I left click on SHELL in the left column right column
has...
ab (Default Reg_SZ (value not set)
5000 REG_DWORD 0X00000000 (0)
Bag MRU Size REG_DWORD 0X00008000 (32768)
BagMRU Size REG_DWORD 0X00008000 (32768)

NOTE: there is "Bag MRU" and "BagMRU" already set at 8000.

Do I edit (Default) and change it to "=dword:00001f40", or
"dword:00001f40" ? OR NOT edit it?

> 3.
> [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam]
> "BagMRU Size"=dword:00001f40

When I left click on BagMru in the left column, the right column has 9
lines, with ...
(Default) , VALUE NOT SET in the top line.
Next lines are 0,1,2,3,4, MRUListEX, NodeSlot, NodeSlots.

Do I EDIT (Default) and rename it... > BagMRU Size, with VALUE...
"=dword:00001f40"? (with or without "=" sign infront of dword?

> 4.
> [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
> "NoSaveSettings"=dword:00000000

(DEFAULT) in each file is shown as (> value not set). DO I EDIT the
(Default) and show Name asNO SAVE SETTINGS and VALUE as ...
=dword:00000000 and would that be without the = sign in front of dword?

Hope the above makes sense, and you can help!

Thanks very much,
