Folder Security?

Don I

I'm setting up a PC with WinXP Home Edition (SP2) for my parents. My neice
and nephews spend a lot of time at my parents house and will most likely use
the PC as well.

I created accounts for each of them. I was going to use TrueCrypt to create
an encrypted "drive" for my parent's data files. The password protection
will keep the the kids from making changes. But they would still be able to
see/delete the TC image file. While I don't beleive they would
INTENTIONALLY do so, I'm concerned one of them could accidentally delete or
corrupt the image file.

Is there any program out there that's not going to cost an arm and a leg
that will allow me to control folder access per user? Or at least make it
so that a PW will be needed to access the data folder (and sub-folders)?
Ideally, entering the username/PW would make the folder available until the
user logs off or otherwise tells the program to close the folder.

Thanks.

Don

Hi Don:

If the user account the nieces and nephews use has Limited User status, they won't be able to see any of the contents of your folks' My Documents folder.

Hi Don,

I normally consider hiding folders a waste of time, but if what you are
only concerned about is simply 'accidental' erasure than just download
a FreeWare folder hider. Put the TrueCrypt container in the hidden
folder. The user would have to type in the exact name and path ton get
to the hidden file but that would be no problem.
