Hi,
I have win XP
why names of some of my folders in "My Computer" are written in blue and
some in black color? does it have to do anything with sharing and
networking?

Lesio

It has to do with the NTFS format and compressed folders. Compressed are
named in blue.

Blue text means compressed and green [means] encrypted. Black means
neither of those two. You can't have compressed and encrypted.

Type compression in help for more info. Note this has nothing to do with
Compressed Folders which are zip files. NTFS allows files
to compress/uncompress in the background.

Bruce C. says:
Those are compressed files. By design, WinXP compresses files that do
not get used, and, if you've left the default settings intact, displays
those files in blue.

In Windows Explorer, Tools | Folder Options | View | Advanced settings:
Show encrypted or compressed NTFS files in color.

No, it has to do with compression. The blue files are compressed.
