On the Bridge!

I concluded that the best one for simple fax sending (print to fax) and at a
good price is this one- rks fax

http://www.rkssoftware.com/rksfax/overview.html

note = this is not the same as mighty fax, since that is not compatible with
vista
they rewrote a new program and called it rks fax

simple effective and costs only $19

I searched a couple of hours, so I am posting this to save anyone time who
is looking for a simple fax program for vista

I may have the incredibly rare need to send a fax next week.
I've never used it but will Windows Fax and Scan not do the job?
It'll be a PDF I wish to send.
Wireless connection.

Cheers

The clue is in the title.

unlike XP home, Vista home premium does not have fax, only business and
ultimate has that..

this is just another stupid vista thing...
that has caused much frustration among users

Currently it does not support Vista 64 bit (only Vista 32 bit is
supported). Snappyfax makes a Vista 64 bit version.

Hi Folks

If you want a FAX program that you can 'try before you buy', is reliable,
has good facilities and is reasonably priced, I would recommend snappyfax.
I have been using it (with Vista Home Premium) now for several weeks and am
delighted with it:-

Cheers,

more complex and more expensive than the one I posted

The one that Stevey posted was free, and works on both 32 and 64-bit.

Hi

You say "the best one for simple fax sending (print to fax) and at a
good price ....". OK, but I don't find snappyfax at all complicated: also,
as it happened, I needed software that would send from a scanner too.

I tried the bvrp software on 2 vista home premium computers and it is
working fine. I just chose the "soft modem" from the list of modems. I need
to do more testing for all possibilities but it seems to work fine and shows
up in the printers folder.

Download at http://www.usr.com/bvrp/bvrp.asp?loc=unkg

Another, easier?, way to get FAX is to buy something like a Brother
All-in-one as they have network fax and vista drivers. Mine was £18 in a
Staples clear-out.

I have just found out that my new laptop with vista home premium does not
have fax. I use fax a lot and this is extremely annoying.I wonder why
microsoft left it out?

There is a free fax program from Black Ice but I never got it to work. Both
Snappyfax and RKS fax let you try before you buy. Tried both and bought RKS
fax. Which one you prefer is up to you.
