Favorites in Start menu opens but clicked URLs do not open

Hi all IE7 users
Following some MS updates a fault has developed in windows explorer that
urls I attempt to open from Start\favorites do not open but show the pointer
hour glass momentarily whereas from IE 7\Favorites drop down the urls open
OK.
Can anyone suggest a fix

Thanks for your advice I will try the IE7 group but it seemed do be a
Windows Explorer problem
