I just got my Windows 8 tablet yesterday, and downloaded the updates around dinnertime. The updates themselves took a good ~5-6 hours to download, and then installing them took just as long if not longer. It crapped out on me about 4 hours ago, and since then I've been seeing "Failure configuring Windows features. Reverting changes. Do not turn off your computer".
Obviously I don't want to turn off my computer, but I don't know what else to do. Because it's a tablet, I really don't have access to boot options, or anything other than long-pressing the power button to turn it off. This is such a huge headache, and it's discouraging having such an unnecessary problem with Windows 8 from the get-go. I've never, ever had any problems installing updates with Windows 7. What on earth can I do, other than turn it off? I actually tried turning it off a few minutes ago out of frustration, and it went right back to this "reverting changes" screen when it booted back up.
The tablet in question is an ASUS Vivotab Smart, running whatever factory settings came with Windows 8 upon release. I noticed that, before installing updates (which I did in desktop mode), none of the updates in the app store would work either; I continuously tried updating apps, only to have the app store freeze on me. I was never even prompted to install any updates, I had to find them manually.
