is my disk dead is my data lost?As a result, I bought a new drive and started to load XP64. When the setup screen comes up there are 3 options re the drive: Enter to load windows, C to format the partition and D to delete the partition. No matter the choice, it leads back to this screen.
Windows does not load. Formatting does not start.There is a 2nd drive. Only once did it appear listed on the setup screen.I really do not have a clue about the problem. I suspect the original drive was lost, not due to a disk failure but, rather to a different hardware problem - either in the wiring or the motherboard.The drives are SATA. The setup screen properly identifies the size of Disk 0, ID 0, Bus 0, atapi [MBR].I have not checked the bios configuration.
