I am trying to reload Windows XP, because it has what I believe is a virus. When I get to the screen that ask you to press F8 to accept nothing happens. Is there another way to accept - I tried control I and it doesn't work.
Background: The Dell laptop belongs to a friend and it stopped working. When you power it up it goes through the bootup secquence and then you get a blank screen. When I turned the computer off and back on I get the choose of how to start windows and
I selected Safe mode. The system goes through reading the config file and then stops.
In all my years in IT I have not seen this problem before.
