Hi all, I have an ASUS Z8110PS laptop PC with XP/SP2 SO and SiS chipset.
Everything is more or less ok, save for external USB CD/DVD burners that it
cannot recognize.
If listed at all, they are tagged as "unknown peripherals" with error code
28.
Under Linux (live distro) the peripherals work flawlessly.
In a couple of occasions, I also experienced some problem with USB memory
sticks.
Ive already been thru WindowsUpdate, and I have already downloaded and
installed every Asus and SiS driver, to no avail.
Other USP peripherals work perfectly: printer, scanner, joypad, hard drives,
so I have to assume the USP interface works fine.
So, the peripherals work with another SO, other peripherals work with XP, I
think the problem is about XP+Burner only. Wrong config maybe?

What can I do, other than reinstall for the Nth time the OS and the tons of
S/W running on top of it? (a 2 days full-time work at the bare minimum...)

Thanks a lot in advance

Carlo (Milan, ITALY)
