Exception Shell32.dll, Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll

I get this when I stop a usb device using the Sefely Remove Hardware Icon.
"An exception occurred while trying to run Shell32.dll, Control_RunDLL
hotplug.dll"

The device seems to be shut down but running the command Shell32.dll,
Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll, and then trying to do anything in the pop-up
generates the error every time.

Any ideas what to check -- what reg key or file might be the prob?

Have the same problem but didn't find any solution yet.
