Hi,
It certainly looks like an old topic but I could not pin down any known solution after searching for days.
I've got users using Excel 2003 sp3 accessing file in a share drive. Everything was fine for more than a year until recently the client computers were upgraded from Windows XP sp2 to sp3. Then users began to experience this sharing violation error.
Sometimes, after a user finished edit a file, he/she was not able to save the file and got the share violation error. But, this only happen intermittently.
Also, if the file was already opened, when another user tried to open it, his / her computer could freeze. Checking in the task manager and found that excel was not responding and there was no way to end the excel. The only way out is to power reboot the client PC.
By the way, the share drive is at an Novell Server.
I would much appreciate if anyone got some good suggestions.
Henry
